Energy Reading for the Lunar Month: 11 September - 10 October 2026
Lately, many of us may have felt the sense that life is unusually tough at the moment. Holding all the aspects of ourselves together is difficult in this climate of rapid change and uncertainty. There is a sense of loss, sadness and grief present when things change. Ideally, we need time to integrate this change and to mourn before moving on. When this is so constant and fast, it can feel overwhelming and result in parts of ourselves shutting down in order to cope. We grab onto certain things that we think we can control and ignore others, and so the various parts of ourselves are pulled slowly out of alignment with one another.
What the lungs teach us
This imbalance then affects our relationship to life itself and we begin to struggle in receiving, experiencing, and releasing it. This is embodied perfectly by the function and symbolism of the lungs. The lungs govern breath. When we breathe in, we allow life to enter; when we breathe out, we let it go. As breathing happens in the now, and not in the past or future, it demands courage in order for us to remain fully present.
Symbolically, the lungs reflect our receptivity. Do we feel safe in the world, and how easily are we able to release what has passed? When we are fearful or carrying too much unresolved grief, our breath is restricted and we become more disconnected from life. When we are present, our breathing is deep and relaxed.
Practices that bring us home
Certain practices help tremendously with becoming physically present in our bodies and connecting with life on a deeper level. Using these techniques, we can become more self-reliant and bring balance back into ourselves. Practices such as conscious breathing, sound, chanting, and deep listening empower us because they restore this relationship with life. They gently remind the body that it is safe to receive, express, and release.
By giving ourselves regular time to do these activities, we help to develop ourselves on a mental and spiritual level, aligning these subtle parts of our being with the physical and emotional. Building the courage to be fully present, we are then able to release the grief and fear that has been building up, one bit at a time, in a controlled and managed practice.
Small releases
It isn’t about one big dramatic release that fixes everything all at once. It needs to become a habit of self-reflection each day. Then, start to feel the freedom gradually open up when we stop making ourselves feel responsible for controlling everything around us. If we let go and flow, notice the space, opportunity and courage that becomes available to us to connect with life in the fullest sense.
